The Town Board workshop meeting (located in the Supervisor's office) will begin at 6:30pm.
Town Board meeting begins at 7:30pm. in the Court room at the Town Hall.
Members of the public who wish to address the Town Board will be given the privelege of the floor to make public comments at the beginning of the public meeting.
Those wishing to review Town Board meeting minutes may make a request at the Town Clerk's office.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING - NYS DOT ROUTE 5 & 20 BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
August 23, 2010
A public information meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 4pm to 8pm at the Hanover Town Hall.
The meeting is regarding the proposed project to replace the NY Route 5 & US Route 20 Bridge over Cattaraugus Creek along with reconstruction of the Routes 5/20/438 intersection. The purpose of the meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies.

BUILDING INSPECTOR'S OFFICE REORGANIZES
August 10, 2010
Linda DeFries has officially retired from her position as part-time Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector for the Town of Hanover. As a result of her retirement, the Town has hired Thomas Gould to staff the office. Mr. Gould will be working full time for the Town of Hanover as our new Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer. New office hours for building permits and code enforcement issues are 7am to 4pm Monday through Friday. To make an appointment, call Mr. Gould at 934-2920.

PUBLIC HEARING SET FOR LOCAL LAW TO AMEND TOWN OF HANOVER ZONING LAWS

The Town of Hanover has set a public hearing for August 23rd at 7:35pm at the Hanover Town Hall to hear public comments regarding a proposed local law to amend the current zoning code.
All interested persons will be heard.
A copy of this local law can be seen in the "Body" of this news article. A paper copy will be made available at the Town Clerk's office.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR BAY AREA EMERGENCY EVACUATION MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS TO TOWN BOARD

At the 6/14/10 Town Board meeting Citizen Advisory Committee members Martha Boutet and Shawn Smith presented recommendations that were developed over the last year by a special safety committee. The recommendations concern action items identified to allow the emergency evacuation of the Sunset Bay and Hanford Bay areas of the Town of Hanover.

PLANNING BOARD OPENING
January 15, 2010
Due to the vacancy created by Kevin O'Connell joining the Town Board, the Town of Hanover Planning Board has an open seat. Community members who are interested in being considered for this opening are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to the Hanover Town Board by mail or by hand delivering to the Town Clerk's office at 68 Hanover St., Silver Creek, NY 14136.
The Planning Board meets regularly the 3rd Monday of each month. It is a state and local requirement that each Planning Board member complete 4 hours of approved training per year - all related expenses are reimbursed by the Town. Upon proof of regular meeting attendance, a Planning Board member recieves a stipend of $550 per year. An eligible Planning Board member must be a permanent resident of the Town of Hanover.

NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY REQUESTS PROPOSALS FOR WIND POWER PROJECTS IN LAKE ERIE & LAKE ONTARIO

On December 1, 2009, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) called for proposals to develop the first fresh water wind energy initiative in the nation. Among the prime areas targeted for development is the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, roughly from Oswego to Cape Vincent. Parts of Lake Erie and southern Lake Ontario are also potential sites. NYPA has asked developers to submit proposals by June 1 and plans to award contracts by the end of 2010. The targeted commercial operation date has been set for 2015.

LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN - for Sunset Bay and Hanford Bay

The Town maintains a Local Emergency Management Plan for Hanford and Sunset Bay area residents. To view the plan click on the "Public Safety" page found on the page directory on the left hand side of the website.
This document is designed as a community informational tool to keep residents informed of emergency procedures in place to address emergencies specific to the Bay areas - such as spring flooding conditions, Lake Erie storm events and railroad related incidents.

REMINDER TO DOG OWNERS!

Town of Hanover Law regulating dog ownership specifies that a dog may not be allowed to become a "public nuisance" by continual barking, attacking any person or domestic animal, damaging property, displaying aggressive behavior, running at large and must be under the direct control of the owner or person otherwise having custody of such dog. This local law is enforced by Dog Control Officer Wally Baker, who may be contacted by calling 934-4539 or the Town Clerk at 934-2273. Owners are also reminded to keep their dog licenses up to date!

NEW DRIVEWAY PERMITS NOW REQUIRED IN TOWN

After Public Hearing and Town Board adoption of Local Law # 2 of the year 2007, new driveway installations on Town of Hanover roadways require a permit from the Highway Superintendent. To apply for these permits contact the Building Inspector's office in the Hanover Town Hall. There is no permit fee. For driveway access on county or state roads an application must be made to the appropriate county or state agency.
